What are Collections
Collections are CMS or databases that help manage similar content on a website. With them, you can easily create sites with a large number of similar pages: product catalogs, portfolios, blogs, news, or a list of services. The main advantage of collections is the automation of routine tasks. Instead of creating dozens of similar pages manually, you:
- Create Design for just one page.
- Add content through a regular table.
- Get ready-made pages automatically.
For example, if you’re creating a product catalog, you only need to design the product cards and product page once. After that, you simply add new products to the table — the new cards will automatically appear in the product list, and a separate page will be created for each product with your design. In Taptop, you have complete freedom in design — you can create any design for the elements and pages of the collection, and easily modify it at any time. The changes will automatically apply to all elements and pages.
Collection is a table where you create the necessary fields and fill them with data. The data from the table can be displayed anywhere on the website. When you add, delete, or edit collection items, the data is automatically updated across the entire site.
Example: By creating "Services" collection, you can manage all your service-related data in one place. You can add a new service in just a few clicks, update prices, or modify descriptions—these changes will automatically appear everywhere on the site where services are displayed.
How to do it?
- We create the "Services" collection by adding the following fields to the table: "Service Name", "Image", and "Price".
- We populate the table with data by adding the necessary elements/items. For example: "Website Development", Image File, "100,000 RUB".
- 3. We add Collection widget to the canvas and link it to the created collection in Settings — all elements are automatically displayed as a list on the canvas.
You can add any number of such lists anywhere on the website—all of them will be automatically updated whenever changes are made to the table.
The data from the collection can be displayed in three ways:
- A list of collection elements/items anywhere on the website.
- A list of collection elements/items on a separate index page.
- Dynamic pages – separate page for each collection element/item.
